Pulling in several attributes of a performance shortboard into a mid length, the Mid6 is likely the best performance mid length ...

I’ve got the moe in 7’2 for most uk conditions but been contemplating getting the mid6 at 7’ to use more as a short board for me as I’m 6’5 and 96kg

Great video! Love seeing the barrels and performance turns, especially for a mid length. Wondering how it compares to Moe, Sunday, Seaside and Beyond, etc.? The 7’0” seems like pretty nice compromise in terms of performance, paddling power and still could duck dive when needed. Mid lengths are a pretty diverse category, but a lot of them seem geared more to shorter longboard than slightly bigger high performance shortboard.

Thank you so much for sharing, I made a board request for this one many times in your channel, I finally got mine but I still need to get it, hopefully this week, thank Eric for letting you borrow it. Hopefully you get to use other fins and share your opinion between truster and quad on a future review. Now the only board pending for review is the Album, twin fin (twinsman)

Interesting comment about where you're standing. I had exactly the same revelation! At first I had the pad right back like you would on a thruster.

I torn the pad off and moved it forward. Now i have it placed so the kick is right on the trailing edges of my quad set. Now, i can just jam my foot in there when it's time to turn. I no longer have that inch or more of wondering where my foot is.

When i had the pad right on the tail, my rail game suffered because I would often be standing far behind the quads.
I've never had much success standing behind all my fins.

Always enjoy your content. Keep up the good work. The Mid 6 is up there when looking at the performance end of the scale for mid lengths but its Achilles heel in steeper drops is the wide nose. So far the pinnacle for me after riding a plethora of mid lengths (including all the boards you mentioned) over the last 20 years is the Lost crowd killer. It's firmly on the shortboard end of the spectrum for better waves. Since Firewire and Thunderbolt have parted ways supply of the Mid 6 will be drying up. One thing prospective buyers should be made aware of is that they have a Thunderbolt logo with tiny writing on it that shows its country of manufacture as China. Considering they are premium priced boards this is a bummer.

I had been really looking forward to your take on this board and I am sold after looking at WAY too many mids from the CI to the S and B to the Sunday to the JS Barons and more. This one seems to tick lot of boxes, is durable AND low enough litres that you can manage it in bigger surf. Looking forward to mine arriving this summer. Only downer is the price :0 Cheers Thomye.

Had this board for a long while now & its a weapon. I'm 64 & basically surfed my entire life on boards just like this.
You have to get right back on the tail. You'll know it's the right spot because this board will go vertical & or drive.....fast.
As for the hold.... when you're in a situation where you feel like things aren't going well or your not going to make it go full banzai, engage the rail & next thing it's "poof" you're out & thinking how the fuck did that just happen!!!!! It truly is the magic stick.
I've got a heap of boards but my 2 faithful travellers are the mid 6 & the seaside & beyond..... both 7'.
    For me, the perfect quiver.

I dig this board so much, I got it in the 7'0" and 7'6". The rocker, rails, outline, and contours work well in beach break, which I surf 99% of the time. I use the 7'0" as a daily driver. I use the 7'6" when I need extra paddle power.

Did you like this better than the seaside and beyond for a mid-sized board? Which one would you pick if you only had one choice SS&B or the Harley? I am in the market to get a mid-sized board and never purchased or rode one, usually I ride short boards only. Also, I saw on your other videos you use a solo shot, I have heard negative feedback for the solo shot. Which soloshot do you have and would recommend.

Also love you video keep up the great content!

Looking at it first hand, I can't help but think a MR twin and trailer will actually work in this to get it working better at its lower end. Quad cluster and the pin tail seem so tight!

This looks like the most high pro mid on market. Does it work just as well as thruster? Looking for a speedy hi pro mid for east coast hurricane swells which carry lots of water so want good hold on turns and prefer thrusters, especially on my backhand

I bought the 7’4” HI Moe last December in Puerto Rico , cause I buckled my 7’10” CI Tuff Lite Water Hog. I have the FCS2 large reactor quad fin set up . Very loose , feels skaty at times cause of the wider tail and flat rocker. Taking it back to PR next week. Now after seeing this video on the mid 6 , this shape and rocker profile is better suited if waves become steep and bigger. I am really happy with the thunderbolt technology! Tough and strong it feels, never ever buying a Tuff Lite board ever again , fragile garbage!

You did a great job describing the characteristics of this Board in relationship to other mid lengths like the Moe and CI Mid. How does the Mid 6 compare to the Seaside and Beyond? For the spot you surf, which one works better for paddling and performance?

Just picked up a used but mint 7.0 this morning from my local shop for less than half price! No pressure except for a bit of a heel pressure near the pad. The thing is immaculate. I pulled the trigger based off this review and lots of research :). Finally, the quiver is complete. Seaside, Mashup, Mid 6. :)

@thomyasurfs do you use the most updated version of the Soloshot? If so how’s it working out for you? I had the original version and it lost tracking all the time. I’m not sure I want to invest that money into another one if it doesn’t work properly.
